Alchemy Masters

Alchemy Masters is a guide that’s all about the alchemy specializations you can pick from these alchemy trainers Ironforge, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind. After you reach 300 skill points in Vanilla alchemy, you can pick one of the three quests that can give you one specialization and you can only pick one per alchemist.

The reason why you want to pick one of these three specializations is that they have a chance to proc to make multiple materials from one craft. They can proc into 2, 3, 4, or 5’s.

These specializations only work for Vanilla, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mist of Pandaria Alchemy. The maximum procs they can give is five.

You can also find in this guide a few TradeSkillMaster import strings for the crafts and materials.

Alchemy Masters

Transmutation Master is the first specialization you want to pick on your alchemist. The transmutations from Vanilla till Mist of Pandaria are the most used in older crafts. You can use them yourself to craft with or sell them on the auction house. All transmutations from Vanilla till Mist of Pandaria have a proc chance of producing 2, 3, 4, or 5’s (Pyrium Bar 3-7) out of one craft. Two of these crafts here share a daily cooldown Pyrium Bar and the Living Steel. That means you can only pick one of these each day. Living Steel has a second transmutation by using 3x Trillium Bars and 3x Spirits of Harmony. Both have a chance to proc.

Crafting Arcanite Bar

Used for Vanilla transmog and Enchanted Elementium Bars.

Crafting Titanium Bar

Used for Wrath of the Lich King transmog, Wormhole Generator: Northrend and Titansteel Bar.

Crafting Truegold

Used for Cataclysm transmog and the Vial of the Sands.

Always check which craft is cheaper, because this can fluctuate from time to time. Some can be smelted as well like;

What you may also want to check are the vendors that sell these materials for Spirits of Harmony. I recommend to always check for the Black Trillium Ore and the White Trillium Ore because they can produce the most value and profit. These are sometimes cheaper to trade with the spirit of harmony then buying them on the auction house. Alliance trader and the Horde trader.

Here below are 2 strings for the transmutes and materials. I also added some extra transmutes to it. If you don’t want to move current items in your groups that are used for these transmutes, then don’t forget to disable that while importing the strings.

Elixir Master is the second-best specialization you can pick if you have a second alchemist. This is a perfect way to craft multiple flasks for the Vial of the Sands and elixirs for crafting transmog. Elixirs and Flasks can proc 2, 3, 4, or 5’s.

Potion Master was in the early days a really good specialization to pick. These days it’s not such a great one besides crafting potions that are used for other crafts and Potion of Treasure Finding. This is also the one specialization I don’t recommend picking unless you have a 3rd alchemist that already have the 2 other specializations or if they will make them in future expansions useful again. However, there is a TradeSkillMaster string I made for it. Potions can proc in 2, 3, 4, or 5’s.

Removing Specialization

Removing a Specialization

If you want to switch a specialization you will have to remove it first. To remove this you go to the Spellbook & Abilities  (hit P) and go to the tab professions below. Next to your specialization, you will see a little red button. By clicking it you will remove your specialization. Keep in mind that you have the do a specialization quest again to enable it.

Final Words

If you have to pick one, then always go for the Transmute Master. This will generate the most value from all specializations.

I sometimes see people making armies of alchemist transmute masters. Now is that a good thing or bad thing is up to you, but using them only to craft ones a day a Living Steel with 6 Trillium Bars that when it sells maybe gives 100 gold – 250 gold profit is not the most efficient way. I can use one alchemist and craft multiple Living Steel by using the 3 Trillium Bars + 3 Spirits of Harmony and have multiple chances to have procs. Maybe the profit per Living Steel will be only 100 gold, but it’s less time-consuming.
